Murdoch's is looking to recruit reliable and organised individuals to take on the manufacturing and production roles within our butchery. Working within the shop butchery team your main role will be working on the manufacture of award-winning meat products. Murdoch's makes and supplies award-winning sausages, burgers, bacon and other fresh meat products to our high street butcher shop, convenience stores and supermarkets across Scotland, as well as for online UK distribution. Murdoch Butchers is certified by SALSA, operating to the highest food standards set out for small businesses.
As part of the butchery manufacturing team you will be responsible for following recipes and preparing the fresh meat for the production of sausages, burgers, bacon and other meat products. (Full Time) - You'll be involved in the whole production process from preparation to packaging and dispatch. (Part Time) - You would be considered for any aspect of production to dispatch process.
Butchery manufacture involves manual/heavy lifting, organising of ingredients, operating and cleaning of machinery and workspaces.
You will be working within the butchery team to ensure all daily production tasks are carried out. Once fully trained you will be responsible for organising of ingredients, following strict production processes, maintaining quality standards, stock rotation, packaging and labelling for dispatch together with all necessary documentation and record-keeping.
We are looking for someone who can work well within a small production team.
You will have good numeracy skills and be capable of following strict recipes, maintaining excellent quality standards and have good attention to detail.
You will be motivated and enthusiastic, demonstrating good time-management and organisational skills
You will have basic computing skills for printing labels and record-keeping
Previous experience of working in a food production environment is desirable but not essential. We are looking for people who can follow procedures and instructions. (Full training will be given).
Some previous butchery/knife skills would be of benefit, but full training will be given to a candidate who displays a keen and enthusiastic attitude.
Current food hygiene certification would be advantageous.
As a Butchery Manufacturing Operative you will be on an hourly rate depending on experience (at or above minimum wage) confirmed following a successful fully paid four week work trial. During the work trial you will be paid at basic rate (again, depending on experience) and given full induction training.
Your rate will be formally reviewed/agreed after successful completion of training.
Statutory 28 days annual holiday (pro-rata based on hours accrued) includes Christmas Day/New Year's Day.
Hours can vary depending on demand (average Full Time 35 - 40 hours per week over the year) Monday to Friday, between 7am - 4pm. Part Time hours may be regular and flexible.
