General Assistant (Full Time)

Butchery Retail Counter & Production Team Support
Vacancy: December 11th, 2025

  • Full time 35 - 40 hours (37 hours average)

  • Shifts on weekly rota 5 days between Monday - Saturday 

  • Sundays off, Saturday or weekday off on rotation

  • Hours: Mondays & Wednesdays (8am -1pm), Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays (8am - 4pm) 

  • Additional hours available at busy times

  • Rate: £12.40 per hour (£10.19 per hour under 21 yrs)

  • Pro-rata 28 days annual leave (inc. bank holidays)

  • Paid work trial

  • Full training provided

This is primarily a customer service role with the addition of preparation and display of meat products for retail sale, fulfillment of customer orders and supporting the butchery manufacturing team. We are a small team and everyone supports each other, from manufacturing through to order dispatch and counter service retail sale. 

Role Duties include:

·       Customer service at our Retail Butchers Counter

·       Maintaining the presentation and stock rotation of our retail displays

·       Cleaning and organisation of our front shop area

·       Use of equipment and utensils for preparation of meat products

·       Support the butchery production and manufacturing team including preparation, packaging and labelling

·       Follow all company processes and procedures as trained and instructed

·       Maintaining food hygiene, allergen and health and safety standards

·       Completion of all necessary records, logs and checklists

·       Use of weighing scales/till

·       Cash handling and card payments

Butcher (Part-time)

Butchery and Production
Vacancy: December 2nd, 2025

  • Part time 16 - 20 hours (over two to three days)

  • Hours may vary between 6am - 4pm (to mutually agree)

  • Rate: £ Competitive for an experienced Butcher

Production Cook (Part-time)

Bakery Production Cook
Vacancy: November 10th, 2025

  • Up to 16 - 24 hours ( 2 or 3 days between Monday - Friday)

We're looking for a production cook to join the bakery manufacturing team for batch cooking and preparation of pie fillings, ready meals and other foods. We have a tight team who get involved in all aspects of production to packaging and dispatch, so must be willing to muck in!

Early starts (6am) but we're usually away by 3pm (ish) on a busy day, and weekends off!

Production Cook

Butcher 
(Part-time)

What to expect...

We are looking for an experienced butcher someone to join our friendly and established butchery manufacturing team. Butchery experience is a must, as the role requires knife-skills for boning, preparation and cutting.

  • Preparation of meat cuts and products for our retail butchery counter and customer orders.

  • Cutting and processing of various meat cuts for fresh meat manufacturing, customer orders, retail counter and our established pie business.

  • Boning and skilled seam butchery; lamb, pork and and beef rump and loins.

  • Operation of machinery eg. automatic fillers, mincers/mixers, vacuum packers, mechanical slicers.

  • Packaging and labelling

  • Maintaining hygiene and quality standards

  • Record keeping

  • Lifting and manual handling

  • Cleaning of food production equipment and utensils

  • Working in a high-pressure environment to order deadlines so our customers receive the freshest produce. ​​

Hourly rate of £Competitive for an experienced butcher, offer will be dependant on successful completion of paid work trial including butchery skills assessment.

 

Overtime shifts may be available at busy times across the site in other departments. 

Food Production Intern (Junior)

What to expect...

We are looking for someone with an interest in food production who is enthusiastic, can work well within a team and is capable of following verbal and written instructions.​ The right person will be keen to learn and we will provide all the training necessary to succeed.

  • You must be a good communicator, well-organised and have good numeracy skills as there will be a lot of measuring and counting.

  • You will be manual handling (lifting and carrying) which is a key part of the job, so a basic level of physical fitness is required. (Training will be provided).

  • Basic computing skills are needed for printing labels and record-keeping.

  • Must be able to handle pastry, all fresh raw meats including pork, and tolerate an environment handling allergens.

  • In food production we have to maintain a hygienic environment, so there is lots of cleaning and organising to do, but the whole team mucks in!

  • Opportunities for formal qualifications in food production and career progression.

Production Cook
(Part-time)

What to expect...

We are looking for a production cook to join our bakery team who is familiar with commercial batch cooking. 

  • Joining an existing high-performing team who excel in producing quality produce including World Champion Scotch Pies, a range of meat pastries and other savouries for direct retail and supply to trade.

  • Operation of commercial ovens, blast chillers, boilers, automatic depositors, mixers, scales plus general catering skills: prepping, chopping, weighing, mixing, piping, shredding etc

  • Working to production order deadlines so our customers always receive the freshest produce

  • Maintaining strict food safety and general hygiene to meet our EC approval and SALSA standards

  • Record keeping

  • Following strict recipes, processes and procedures

  • General production kitchen duties including transfer of ingredients and produce, dealing with deliveries, packaging, dispatch and cleaning etc

You'll have 6am starts but will enjoy weekends off! ​

Hourly rate dependent on experience, completion of paid work trial and successful probationary period. Progression opportunities exist for those seeking a career pathway, overtime shifts may be available at busy times and in other departments..
